SSC star
The results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination declared on June 24, 2005 showed 18th ranker from Bombay Kaizad Farokh Patel scoring 92.26 percent, emerge as the top-ranker among Parsis. According to the results posted on the website mahresult.nic.in, a total of 1,268,614 candidates appeared for the SSC examination of whom 237,718 were from Bombay. The other divisions are Poona, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nasik and Latur. At the examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Pune in March 2005, the best performance was from the Bombay division which showed a pass percentage of 76.27, with 181,296 students clearing the school leaving examination.

Patel: academic topper
A student of St Joseph’s High School, Wadala, Patel scored 692 out of a total 750, showing his best performance in mathematics where he scored 148 out of 150, followed by science where he obtained 146/150, mentions his mother Havovi. Academically inclined Patel will now be studying two years of science at Bombay’s Ruia College after which he hopes to specialize in chemical engineering or biotechnology.
Very fond of reading and listening to western classical instrumental music, Kaizad has also been learning the violin.
