FOZAWAC felicitation

The Zoroastrian merit rankers at the Std X and Std XII examinations conducted in 2004 were accorded a special felicitation by the Federation of Zoroastrian Associations for Welfare and Culture (FOZAWAC) on August 8, 2004 at the Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Parsee Charitable Institution (BJPCI) when Kyoshi Vispy Kapadia was the chief guest and his wife Shiraz distributed the trophies, cash prizes and certificates, according to a press release forwarded by the secretary of FOZAWAC Rusi Bhumgara.
At the ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) examination, the highest scorer with 94.16 percent was Janeen Madan of J. B. Petit School. There were three who shared the second rank with 93.67 percent: Tushna Marolia and Tina Mistry both of Queen Mary and Dilshad Ghadially of Hiranandani. The SSC (Secondary School Certificate) toppers were Zelda Dadachanji of Alexandra who scored 90.26 percent, Kainaz Sidhwa of St Anne’s with 89.86 percent and Parinaz Madan of J. B. Vachha with 89.73 percent.
The J. B. Vachha School with 15 students above 80 percent won the Best School award for the fourth time. J. B. Petit School was given a special merit award for having 11 students above 80 percent marks.



High rankers with Vispy and Shiraz Kapadia


At the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations the highest scorers were from the science stream: Simin Patel of Hyderabad scoring 95.30 percent, Feroz Pouredehi of BJPCI, 91.17, Zervin Baam of Ruia, 90.50 and Zenobia Chenoy of Jai Hind, 90.17. Among the commerce students all three top scoreres were from H. R. College: Peshotan Kapadia, 87.83, Khushroo Patel, 85.33 and Priya Pardiwalla, 85.17. Mehta had secured the eighth rank in the entire board. In the arts faculty the highest scorer Khushnum Wadia of St Xavier’s got 82 percent followed by Armaity Daver of Nagpur with 79.67 and Zenia Bharucha of Jai Hind with 75.17. Wadia had secured the ninth rank in the board.
The 81 girls and 28 boys who were felicitated, many of them from upcountry centers like Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Dahanu, Poona, Nagpur and Hyderabad, were welcomed by FOZAWAC president Adi Mehta. The program was sponsored by the World Zoroastrian Organisation, India and Emirates Zarathushtis. Altogether cash prizes and trophies worth Rs 94, 000 were given to the merit rankers, adds the release.
