Jewel in Jhansi's crown
The last of the 39 Zoroastrians remaining in Jhansi meet periodically, be it for the Fravardin mah jashan at the aramgah in the Cantonment area or the Bahram roz jashan at the Dharamshala, writes Ronny Dick, president of the Jhansi Parsi Anjuman. A donation of Rs 5,001 from Firoz Pestonji and of Rs 3,001 from Perin Kolah of Canada augmented their assets this year.
After the Bahram roz jashan on September 8, 2005, they felicitated 16-year-old Kaizad Rustomji for scoring 91.2 percent in his ICSE school leaving examination. "It is a very big thing in Jhansi for no one has (obtained this) score up to now,” states Dick. The Anjuman honored him with a purse of Rs 1,001 for his outstanding success.
A student of The Cathedral College, Jhansi, Rustomji scored the highest, 96 percent in computer applications. In both English and science he earned 92 percent, and in mathematics as also history, civics and geography he obtained 88 percent. In Hindi he got 83 percent. Son of Rohinton who is a section engineer with North Central Railway, Jhansi and Ketayun who is a teacher, Kaizad is aspiring to join the Indian Institute of Technology and become an engineer. At the National Talent Search Examination 2004-05 Kaizad was a school topper with an all-India ranking of 396. He has also won honors at the state level quiz competition and the National Cyber Olympiad, mentions his curriculum vitae.
