FOZAWAC felicitates
One-hundred-and-three Zoroastrian students who had excelled in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC), Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations were given recognition by the Federation of Zoroastrian Associations for Welfare and Culture (FOZAWAC) at a function at the Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Parsee Charitable Institution (BJPCI) on August 6, 2006. Many of the awardees could not attend the function due to incessant rains, notes a press release giving details of the best performers.
At the Std X school leaving level SSC examination, the highest scorer was Nazneen K. Irani of Secunderabad (91.83 percent), followed by Sheroy A. Chinoy of Baroda (91.5 percent), Anoshak P. Irani of Don Bosco (90.53 percent) and Kersi P. Bilimoria of Thana (90.26 percent). At the ICSE examination the top slot with 94.33 percent was shared by Zubin J. Unwalla of Campion and Khushnam K. Godiwalla of Jamshedpur, followed by Banu B. Pashutanizadeh of Poona (92.85 percent), Darayus R. Vakil of Cathedral (92.5 percent), Kaizad H. Marolia of Activity (91.17 percent), Vispan P. Boocha of Poona (91 percent) and Kaizeen J. Daruwalla of Queen Mary (90.83 percent).

At the Std XII examination at the end of junior college, the highest scorers in the HSC science stream were Jehangir H. Cama of New Delhi (94.20 percent), Piran T. Engineer of Jai Hind (90.83 percent) and Zelda V. Dadachanji of Jai Hind (88.67 percent); in the commerce stream were Neomi A. Patel of N. M. College (87.17 percent), Shezin H. Siganporia of Surat (87.07 percent) and Tushna V. Marolia of H. R. College (85.67 percent); in the arts stream were Parinaz R. Vakil of Cathedral (86.17 percent), Armin R. Wadia of Sophia College (82.15 percent) and Benaifer R. Mistry of Jai Hind (80.17 percent).
After the welcome by the president of FOZAWAC Adi Mehta, chief guest Rusi Sethna, the well known solicitor, distributed the prizes. Rusi Bhumgara, the general secretary of FOZAWAC, thanked the joint sponsors of the event — the World Zoroastrian Organisation (India) and Emirates Zarthusties — as also the executors of Mr and Mrs Shavaksha R. Pagdiwala Scholarship Fund, Dara Parakh who donated a special cash award to Anoshak Irani, and the principal and trustees of the BJPCI.
