What this site collects.

Almost nothing. The archive is free to read, there are no accounts, and there is nothing to sign up for.

No tracking

There are no analytics, no advertising networks and no third-party trackers. The site sets no cookies for visitors.

Server logs

The web server records ordinary request logs — the page requested, the time, the browser’s user agent and its IP address. These are used to keep the site running and to spot abuse, and are not used to build a profile of anyone.

Fonts

Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google receives the request for the font file, including the visitor’s IP address, as it would for any site using that service.

Asking the archive

A question typed into Ask the archive, or a search term, is sent to the server to be answered, and a question is also sent to the model provider that answers it. Questions are not linked to a person.
