Toppers from Poona

Khushnam Kersi Godiwalla topped in the Commerce stream of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) board examinations in all of Maharashtra state, securing an aggregate of 93 percent, while Natasha Viraf Deboo scored 88.5 percent in the Arts stream. These girls, both from Poona, have done the community proud with their academic excellence, notes community activist Noshir H. Dadrawala in an e-mail forwarded to Parsiana.

Godiwalla had earlier secured 94.33 percent at her Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) exam in May 2006 and ranked first at the Sacred Heart School in Jamshedpur. She also topped her First Year Junior College (FYJC) at Poona’s St Mira’s College with 95 percent. Deboo, who schooled at Poona’s St Mary’s High School and notched up 92.2 percent for her ICSE board examinations stood first in the HSC in the Arts stream at Wadia College. She intends to major in English and pursue a career in print journalism, the e-mail adds. A gifted writer, Deboo has been a freelance journalist with the Poona edition of The Times of India and has also been extensively published in the Parsi Press.
