“Duties of BPP trustees”
I refer to Soli Arceivala’s letter, "Duties of BPP trustees” (Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, December 7, 2015).
Every six months, when I was the chief executive officer of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet, we used to hold a colloquium with the high priests. I found that they were non-contributory, or sat on the fence. Since their contribution was nil, we discontinued the colloquium.
I wrote to the Athornan Mandal in my personal capacity to take an unequivocal stand on three issues. I never heard from them. B. T. DASTUR
The Institution of Vada Dasturs Requires Reforms to a Great Extent. The Days of Father to Son are over and hence what we require is a Competent Person with Powers to Control the Priestly Class and enlighten the community on Religious Affairs by giving Sermons from time to time. Today we find Vada Dasturs attend functions of the Rich or they would attend functions where they are Honoured. We Must also have a collegium to elect Vada Dastur on the lines of the Pope.
