Babies born, marriages solemnized and deaths that occurred between 16th to 30th of November 2014 have been mentioned herewith.
Thirty-five Zoroastrians opted to be consigned to the Bombay Towers of Silence while no births were reported!
The failure of their vital organ (heart) caused the death of 12 patients (of them six over the 80 year age limit). Septic shock killed five Zoroastrians while three each were victims of septicemia, cancer and liver disease. Two each succumbed to diabetes, pneumonia/lung disease, old age/general debility and brain disease. Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma claimed an isolated life. The eldest and youngest to perish were a 95-year-old male and a 44-year-old female. The mean age at death of Zoroastrians for the second half of November in Bom­bay, was 76 years.
The data on births, marriages and deaths has been compiled from information supplied by various newsletters and anju­mans in India and abroad, courts and hospitals. This information is not always complete or consistent: we are unable to carry data from areas where the anju­mans do not furnish the particulars; the birth figures for Bombay are supplied by two hospitals — births in suburban hospitals and private nursing homes are not included unless individuals send us information together with a copy of the birth certificate. There may be an inadvertent repetition of names in the marriage list when a civil marriage precedes a religious ceremony. The names of the deceased are supplied by the Bom­bay Parsi Pun­chayet. In the break-up of deaths according to illnesses, especially of the elderly, death is often due to a combination of several diseases.

CORRECTION
In the December 7, 2014 issue of Parsiana we had published the announcement of a birth of a baby girl to Shweta and Shahvir Aga on October 14. The correct date of birth of baby Sanaya is October 24.
