Duty and desire

A true story this is, of a beautiful well educated Parsi girl./ On her little finger, her parents, she could very easily curl. The best she was granted, ’cause loved her dearly they both./ As she grew up, dearly loved her religion she; and took an oath/ to marry only a Parsi and have children at least two if not three./ Her friends she told, "This we must all do, and it will start with me.”
Then fell head over heels in love she, with a doc; not a Parsi, you see./ Deeply they loved, yet she said, "Love is a matter of the heart;/ next life unite we will certainly; but this life we must part.”/ Married a Parsi she did; and had beautiful children, two./ "Wish I could afford four,” she said, "this I will always rue.”
Sacrificed her love willingly she did, for our dear religion/ though her heart ached at times; there was no confusion./ Taught this same thing to her children she did, painstakingly/ "You too should happily do this, for our religion, willingly.”
