Amicable matches
Once again the Ahmedabad Parsi Panchayat is organizing a matrimonial meet to encourage weddings among Zoroastrians and to thereby increase the strength of the Parsi community. Such efforts should be continuous in all cities to stop the serious problem of mixed marriages endangering the Parsi cultural heritage. Here is my poetic effort.
Specially let young daughters come together in ethical contacts/with Zoroastrian youths, to make friends for further contracts./They will have guaranteed safe and sound future/and fulfill their duty to preserve the unique Parsi culture.
By wealth one can procure desired facilities,/but not happiness; inviting unexpected responsibilities./For a happy home and peaceful married life, love is important/as is dedication, understanding and sincerity constant.
‘Raasi’ and ‘tapkaa’ have a secondary stand and image;/more important is an amicable match in marriage./Courage and steadfast faith in Ahura is wanted,/ to jump in the arena of love, earlier undaunted.
Ahura Mazda blesses more the married couple/and further more, those who have progeny ample/than those who do not think of marriage at all,/and turn deaf ears to the community’s call.
Beware children of crossing limits with alien/to avoid perplexing unethical emotional union./Parents should not encourage unions with outsiders/to avoid insults to their community and moral orders!
