Congress: zero result

They came they ate and drank, and they left and called it a World Zoroastrian Congress. What jingoism!

They also went to the Race Course. Do they have any clue as to which firm built it and who the architect of the Mahalaxmi Race Course was? I bet they don’t.

Their world extends from Kaanpur to Naakhpur, that is, just a wee part of the world (literally, from the ears to the nose). This Congress should at best have been named World Parsi Bawa Irani Conference (picnic would be more befitting if you ask me). Zoroastrians of the world are anathema to the bawas. Were Zoroastrians from Kurdistan, Europe, Russia and other places invited?

As for the Race Course, there is an old Parsi song which I remember partly which goes like this: "Race course ooper sov-koi jaiche chauffeur ke savkar, adh-na-ala doria-wala sov thai-che khoovar. Ghoda né halat ché soodharvi éto chéy bahnoo, ghoda né badlé vadech ghadéra padéych gajay kanoo [Everyone, from a chauffeur to a rich man goes to the race course. The stupid and the rich all lose money or are ruined. It is a mere pretext to say that racing is meant to improve the condition of the horses; in reality, instead of horses the number of donkeys (fools) increases and results in a hole in the punters’ pockets]."

Now that the Congress is over with zero results let’s get back to some more interesting topics such as what is the latest about the Bombay Parsi Punchayet Panipat. The police laughed off the matter; now let’s hear from the Charity Commissioner.

So let the New Year band baaja (instruments) begin and let us hear it.
