I have nothing but plaudits for the Parsiana team. You are doing yeoman service for the community. May you carry on for the benefit of our future generations.

Kudos to Parsiana for standing up against many hurtful practices that are being followed in the name of religious traditions. One particular Parsiana stand that pleases me most is its support to Parsi ladies (my wife Bhickoo was one such) married to non-Parsis. On one occasion I was horrified to listen to an authority from an agiary in a big city shouting with sheer street vulgarity when Bhickoo was about to enter the holy place. She left without saying her prayers. Compare this to the cheerfully refined character of the Parsis of Madras.
In these days when so many people across all religions are losing faith in God, Parsiana’s endeavor not to alienate those Parsi ladies with religious fervor who are treated as outcasts because they are married outside the religion, is highly commendable.
A suggestion: Parsiana could give better coverage to the social, religious activities of Parsis in cities like Madras. A two-page section could be devoted to the interests of Parsi children, their academic, cultural, sports activities, their aspirations and dreams.

Parsiana’s strengths: Good reading, wonderful knowledgeable articles on our religion and interesting events. For people like us who live upcountry, it is a blessing reading the magazine. We don’t find any shortcomings in the magazine which I have been reading from 1981 onwards.

Your strengths: Coverage of global events. Shortcomings: Too much of Bombay Parsi Punchayet.

Parsiana is the only Parsi publication I really read because of its no-nonsense stand on controversial matters and its bold attempts to usher in much needed reforms in community matters. Shortcomings: This is not really a shortcoming, but I would like to see more humor in the magazine.

Parsiana’s strengths: Objective reporting, systematic approach. Shortcomings: Too Bombay-centric, too serious. You need to bring in Parsi humor. Organize short story/natak competitions, involve readers beyond letters to the editor. Provide more inspirational articles for youth, organize surveys in every issue.

Parsiana’s strengths: keeping the liberal, rational, scientific flame alive! Shortcomings: Too much coverage about the Bombay "baug” Parsis and their antics. There is too much emphasis on religion, whereas the emphasis should be on Zoroastrian philosophy and morals.
