By Sherene Vakil · May 7, 2013
The Nagpur Parsi Anjuman, in elections held on March 31, 2013 re-elected Aspi Bapuna, president and Shiraz Gimi honorary secretary, to serve another three-year term. Also elected unopposed were Navroze Daver, vice president and Nergesh Desai, treasurer. Elections were held for seven members and a lady member, with Meheroo Watchmaker defeating Dolly Batliwala for the latter post. Others elected were Shiraz Doongaji, Shahrukh Cassad, Rusi Godha, Rayomand Madan, Cyrus Watchmaker, Prochi Kotwal and Cyrus Major. Contestant Adi Batliwala was unable to garner enough votes to be elected. The information was sent to Parsiana over the email by Sohrab Kanga on behalf of the office bearers.

The faith reposed in the outgoing committee by the voters was engendered by the good work done in the preceding three years when it held the reins of the Anjuman, the email mentions. The Nagpur Parsi Anjuman is a registered trust which looks after matters concerning the welfare of the 501 member community there. Nagpur’s Zoroastrians are a vibrant, close-knit group who come together to celebrate every occasion.
