Babies born, marriages solemnized and deaths that occurred between November 16-30, 2011 have been mentioned herewith.
Names of couples who tied the knot were unavailable from the Bombay High Court as the contact person was unavailable.
An alarming divide was noticeable in the birth (two) and death (29) figures for the last fortnight of November. Seven of the nine Zoroastrians who succumbed to heart disease were octogenarians and nonagenarians. Pneumonia/lung disease claimed four lives whereas two patients each fell prey to diabetes, brain disease and anemia. Isolated cases included septecemia, uraemic encephalopathy, kidney failure, cancer, hypertension, old age/general debility, paralysis, multi organ failure and hypothyroidism (a group of symptoms caused by the deficiency of thyroid secretion). The youngest and eldest to breathe their last were both males (60 and 97 years). The mean age at death of Zoroastrians for the last 15 days of November, in Bombay, was 80 years.
The data on births, marriages and deaths has been compiled from information supplied by various newsletters and anjumans in India and abroad, courts and hospitals. This information is not always complete or consistent: we are unable to carry data from areas where the anjumans do not furnish the particulars; the birth figures for Bombay are supplied by two hospitals — births in suburban hospitals and private nursing homes are not included unless individuals send us information together with a copy of the birth certificate. There may be an inadvertent repetition of names in the marriage list when a civil marriage precedes a religious ceremony. The names of the deceased are supplied by the Bombay Parsi Punchayet. In the break-up of deaths according to illnesses, especially of the elderly, death is often due to a combination of several diseases.

Diana (daughter of Jasmine and Darius Buhariwalla of Poona) and Hormuz (son of Hutoxi and Cawas Pundole of C. T. Pundole and Sons of Poona) were married on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Mani Rana Farm in Kosbad (Dahanu). Three days of fun and frolic were enjoyed by a distinguished crowd of 300 friends and relatives from Poona/Bombay. This was perhaps the first ever event of a Parsi wedding on a distant village farm, with all the trappings of great entertainment, sit-down breakfast/lunch/dinner for all (executed by a well known Udvada caterer) and with every evening ending at midnight. The couple plan to celebrate their first wedding anniversary at the same farm.
