Assured seats

Since the last many years, the policy of ‘reservations’ adopted by the government has made it difficult for promising Zoroastrian students to obtain admissions in colleges imparting education in specialized academic disciplines such as medicine, dentistry, engineering. The Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) is delighted to announce that it has finalized a few seats each in the disciplines of medicine, dentistry and various branches of engineering at: K. S. Hegde Medical College, Mangalore, A. B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore, N.M.A.M. Institute of Technology, Mangalore.
The aspiring eligible students who have completed 12th standard examinations (HSC or equivalent) will have to appear for and clear the entrance examination called COMEDK (Consortium of Medical/Engineering/Dental of Karna­taka).
However, for the current year only, as the entrance examinations have already been conducted, students who have cleared them from other states will as a special case be considered for admissions.
Eligibility for selection is as under: Minimum percentage of marks to be obtained in COMEDK is as follows — Aggregate marks (with 50 percent minimum marks in each subject) — medical: physics/chemistry/biology/English, 65 percent; dental: physics/chemistry/biology/English, 60 percent; engineering: physics/chemistry/mathematics, 65 percent.
Candidates will be recommended by BPP to the institutions strictly on merit. The final selection will be at the discretion of the Institute’s management. The NITTE Education Trust which manages the above institutions and the BPP will between them bear up to 50 percent of the fees, whilst the other 50 percent will have to be borne by the students.

Zoroastrian students may note that there are other courses being conducted at these institutes: two-year MBA course, three-year MCA (Masters in Computer Application) course, four-year BPharm course, four-year BPT (Physiotherapy) course, four-year BHM (Hotel Management) course, three-year MLT (Medical Laboratory Technician) course.
