Aid college students
Snehadeep Youths’ Association (SYA), founded in the year 1955, invites applications from needy and deserving college students in need of free text books to pursue their studies in arts, science, commerce, engineering, law, medicine, management or business. This help is available to all students irrespective of their caste, creed or status. Since the Association is in a position to meet the requirements of about 500 students, only students of colleges affiliated to the Bombay University should apply at the earliest.
Application forms are available at the office of the Association (103, Municipal Chowpatty Market, Dadyseth Road No.1, Babulnath, Bombay 400007, Tel: 022 – 23674933) on all working days from 4 to 6 p.m. Forms duly filled in (with all details and annexures, including the list of books, names of authors and approximate cost) must be submitted at the earliest.
SYA was founded by some students hailing from middle class families. They collected used college textbooks from their friends and relatives and decided to form a book bank which could loan these books to needy and deserving students. In recognition of their work, they were given premises by the Bombay Municipal Corporation. The current trustees include chairman Pramod Kumar Jain, an industrialist and chairman of DCW Limited, honorary secretary Hemant Vakil who retired from Tatas after 35 years where he worked with senior directors of the firm, and Ashvin Pratap, an industrialist with interest in hospitality and the steel industry.
We hope that the students of the Parsi Zoroastrian community will take advantage of the facilities we provide and we also look forward to your support in this important endeavor. SYA is registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act as also the Societies Registration Act and has obtained an exemption certificate under section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
