Daroga honored
"For his tireless effort in bringing justice to the victims of Pan Am’s hijacked aircraft at Karachi airport on September 5, 1986,” Viraf Daroga was honored with an award by US President George Bush during the National Crime Victims Rights Week held in Washington DC in April 2005, notes What’s On (May 2005), the monthly newsletter of the Karachi Zarthosti Banu Mandal.

Daroga:brin-ging justice
The annual award ceremony honors victims, survivors, good samaritans, law enforcement officers and community members who have shown particular courage and persistence during the criminal justice process, notes the report. Daroga is said to have worked closely with the various US government agencies to successfully prosecute the perpetrators of the crime at the risk of his own safety.
Said to be unable to travel to Washington due to personal reasons, Daroga’s award was received on his behalf by his son Zarksis.
