Zoroastrians Abroad
Art patron Sadri
Cancer took its toll of philanthropist and art patron Roshan Sadri. To the end her jovial exterior and zestful life cloaked her secret so that when she passed away on December 3, 2003 — just three days before a meet she was to attend at Buckingham Palace — her friends in the arts were taken by surprise, notes an elegy in the ZTFE newsletter. Associated with numerous charities, particularly the Star and Garter Trust and the British Forces Appeal, Sadri’s contribution resulted in tributes at the funeral from a former Prime Minister as well as a member of the Royal family, the newsletter informs us. Noted actor Art Mallick was one of those who provided eloquent testimony to her patronage of the arts.
As the ZTFE newsletter noted, Sadri’s commitment demonstrated to the host community that Zoroastrians are supportive of the causes that Britons hold dear — support for the retired members of the Armed Forces and for the performing arts.
