Hirjibedin: "endeared himself to all”
Kaiser-e-Hind, the erstwhile newspaper familiar to every Parsi household was being run jointly by brothers Soli and Jal Hirjibedin after their father Eruchshaw’s death. For nearly a century it served as the voice of the Parsis until it closed due to labor problems. When Soli managed the press he was also active with the Youths’ Own Union, The Society for the Right to Die with Dignity, Time and Talents Club and the Bombay Chamber Orchestra, notes a press release.
A journalist by profession Hirjibedin contributed articles and served as a western music critic for the Jam-e-Jamshed.
"Through his jovial ways and charities to poor Zarathushtis...Soli endeared himself to all. After an eventful career, he devoted his autumn years to prayers,” mentions a family source.
Hirjibedin is survived by his wife Sarosh and daughter Tannaz Hoshang Jalejar.
