Ajmer’s social worker

Gulnar Noshir Marfatia breathed her last on March 17, 2008 in New Delhi at the age of 66, after a long sickness. She was partner/owner of New Majestic Talkies, Ajmer, one of the oldest cinemas in Rajasthan, established in 1931. Though she took active interest in the cinema, she is remembered most for her commitment to social work.

Rising from the club level of Rotary to chairman of the Inner Wheel Club, District 305 (as governor), in 2001 she was elected president of the All India Association of Inner Wheel Clubs of India. Thereafter in 2003-4, she was elected to the coveted post as board director of the International Inner Wheel Club in England and attended several meetings there.

She had been actively associated with many service organizations and institutions in Ajmer such as the Blind School and Deaf and Dumb School. She was nominated to the Rajasthan Social Welfare Board, was a life member of the Ajmer Paripakva Nagrik Sansthan (old age home) and senior member of the Shri Ajmer Parsi Jarthosti Anjuman.

We will all miss her.
