Mahuva celebrates salgirah
Nariman Bacha, associate general manager of Godrej and Boyce Manufacturing Company, chief guest at the salgirah celebrations of Mahuva’s Ardesher B. Patel Agiary on October 2, 2016, unveiled a marble plaque listing details of the fire temple’s renovation, states a write-up sent to Parsiana by Hoshi Bajina, president of the Shree Mahuva Parsi Anjuman. A jashan by two priests had preceded the unveiling.

Later, at Manek Wadi, the community hall of the Anjuman, Bajina welcomed Sam Chothia, vice president of the West Zone B of the Federation of the Parsi Zoroastrian Anjumans of India and president of the Valsad Parsi Anjuman and Marazban Baria, president of the Bilimora Parsi Zarthoshti Anjuman, along with representatives from the Vyara, Mandvi, Gandevi, Bilimora and Chikhli anjumans as well as humdins who had come from Navsari, Surat and nearby villages. Baria praised Porus Mogal, his wife, and Sheru Mogal, the donors of the Mahuva Anjuman. Sheru had spent over Rs 5,00,000 (USD 7,480) in memory of her late husband Jemi. Firoze Tampal, Dhanjisha Besania and Kali Besania who had provided kathi for the fire temple were also thanked. Trustee Dr Hosang Mogal spoke of Bacha’s affection for Mahuva as his mother and father hailed from that town, the write-up states.
Two young achievers who passed their postgraduate examinations with flying colors were honored — Pinaz Mogal who earned a first class in her Masters of Business Administration and Pizan Kodia who obtained his MCom degree from Bombay.
Hosang gave a vote of thanks. Lunch was catered by Sunnu Kasad of Navsari, the write-up concludes.
