Mahuva sponsors navjote
Over 150 Zoroastrians from Mahuva and nearby towns attended the navjote of Parizad Jivasa. The trustees of the Mahuva Parsi Anjuman (MPA) had sponsored the navjote of the daughter of the Ardeshir Bhikhaji Patel Anjuman Daremeher’s caretaker Meherzad Jivasa, which was performed in the hall of the dadgah in Mahuva on May 8, 2016. The young initiate is a student of Avabai Petit School in Bandra, Bombay, mentions a write-up received from MPA trustee Dr Hosang Mogal.
MPA president Hosi Bajina was keen that Anjuman funds not be used for this purpose. He received funds from some neighboring anjumans as well. Ervads Homi Desai and Keki Dastur of the Malesar Anjuman came for the occasion with the latter performing the navjote ceremony.

The invitees later gathered for a function at Manekwadi Hall. After a humbandagi, Bajina, on behalf of the MPA, presented caretaker Rustamji Kodia a cheque of Rs 51,000 for sterling services over a period of 25 years. Chief guest Marazban Baria, president of the Bilimora Parsi Anjuman (BPA), also presented a cheque and letter of appreciation to Kodia on behalf of BPA trustee Dhunjusha Avari. Bajina expressed gratitude to all donors and especially to Padam Cooper of Dubai who always sends donations to the MPA through Percy Avari of Navsari.
Mogal briefly explained the importance of the navjote ceremony after which everyone sang Chhaiyé Hamé Zarthoshti and the national anthem before enjoying lunch catered by Soonu Kasad of Navsari, the write-up concludes.
