The Young Rathestars of Contractor Baug in Mahim did their bit under the guidance of Khush Dubash by creating beautiful posters for the victims, including a special one with a Smiley. When asked why a Smiley, the reply was "We hope the children of Nepal will smile when they know that we children from Bombay love them and are with them.”
J. B. Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals, through the Rotary Club of Mumbai Queen’s Necklace, has donated a large consignment of medicines. Their largess has over the years always been forthcoming during disasters.
The following relief materials, totalling 5,155 kg, have been sent to Nepal so far: medicines worth Rs 40 lakhs, 20 tents, 150 cartons of biscuits, 510 kg non-perishable foods, 780 kg rice, 50 kg dal, 25 kg salt, 50 kg sugar, 970 blankets, 80 bed sheets, 180 towels, 500 hygiene kits (consisting of toothpaste, toothbrush, washing powder and bath soap), 600 sanitary napkins, 400 baby diapers and 35 mini solar lights.
While donors are the bedrock of all our initiatives, our workers who have packed and carried relief over weeks in the sweltering heat, as well as our staff need special mention. Much background work is done before every consignment can be sent out. Our relief has been sent to the Nepal Red Cross Headquarters, Kathmandu, for distribution.
