Recognition for Mustang
"I can’t believe it is 26 years since I started Mustang! Back then, it was unusual to see women in the manufacturing sector and there were some speed bumps along the way. But now the journey seems well worth it,” said Naazneen Katrak, founder of Mustang Socks while receiving the Golden Maharashtra MSME Award for Women Entrepreneur of the Year 2015. The Awards of the Golden Maharashtra Development Council recognize and reward Maharashtra’s entrepreneurs, and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), celebrating the strong culture of manufacturing and achievers in the field. The function was held on January 29, 2015 at Bombay’s Y. B. Chavan Auditorium.

Nazneen Katrak receiving award
Katrak single-handedly established Mustang Socks 26 years ago, becoming a pioneer in the Indian hosiery industry. Understanding the need for quality cotton socks back in the nineties, she combined perfect cotton quality and novel design concepts with the latest technology. In 2004 Katrak collaborated with Lubeina Shahpurwala as her as co-director at Mustang Socks which today manufactures more than one million pairs of socks every month and has 36 distributors across India, notes the SME Times website on March 13, 2015.
Expressing her gratitude, Katrak told those present at the awards function, "I am so glad that with government backing platforms like this, women and young entrepreneurs are being encouraged to follow their passion — even if their passion is making good quality socks, I am humbled and thank you all for the love that Mustang Socks has got!”
