Award for Avari

By Sherene Vakil · May 21, 2015

Delna Avari, head (marketing, communication and services), Tata Motors, featured on the list of 50 Most Influential Women in the Indian Media, Advertising and Marketing under the aegis of IMPACT magazine of the exchange4media group. Selected by a jury of industry professionals headed by Sam Balsara of Madison World, the trail-blazing women professionals were felicitated in Bombay in March 2015 for their "immense contribution, inspiring leadership and remarkable body of work.”
Avari received her trophy from Farokh Balsara, partner Ernst and Young and Shashi Sinha, chief executive officer of IPG Mediabrands, India. Commenting on the honor, she said: "The number one challenge continues to be about respect. There is still a belief that a woman can do certain roles well and others she can’t. There needs to be an acceptance that a woman can run a large business and be result oriented. Women can take hard decisions, deliver results and yet do it in a manner which is unique and different.”
Avari has also been appointed as director on the board of Concorde Motors (India) Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Motors Limited.
