“To pay or not to pay”

It is often noticed that in the "Subscribers’ comments” items some yearn for humor to be instilled into Parsiana’s pages. This writer could effortlessly oblige, but realizing that his brand of humor — from the risqué to disgraceful — would only cause the genteel ladies on the editorial board to blush rose-red, and dear Letap to flush an angry un-royal purple, it is thought best to desist.
But what about your long-suffering humorless subscribers? Well, there is a grisly variety of it in "To pay or not to pay” (Parsiana, September 7, 2014) where our long-time favorite jokesters deftly display some mind-boggling acrobatics. One trustee has signed off his email with "Peace and light” — rip-roaringly funny when the author is reputed for the absence of both in his proclamations and procedural maneuverings. And lo! There is not a procedural slip but a Freudian one that displays perhaps his true characteristics as "Yours disgustINGly” when "... disgustEDly” was intended. Coming "from the horses’ mouths” who are we mere mortals to argue with such messianic self-assessment and cease our grim laughter?
For those as uninitiated as the undersigned in the dark prosody of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (who cares, anyway, since this seems to be the norm these troubled days?), your complainant subscribers simply must pay closer attention to the rich humor-laden style of these oh-so-subtle intellectual exchanges. For, in faithfully reporting these, Parsiana has more than fulfilled all rib-tickling requirements. Pity that they are so sleazily couched! Go on! Strain yourselves to summon up some chuckles!
