“To pay or not to pay”

The very messy state of affairs in the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) has been revealed in "To pay or not to pay” (Parsiana, September 7, 2014). How long can this continue? Are the trustees not bothered by legal niceties of this or ethical behavior?
What will be the long-term impact on the smooth working of the BPP? What is its impact on the BPP staff? Are they not already bewildered and demoralized?
Who in their right minds would venture to stand for trusteeship elections for a once reputed institution that has sunk to such a low? Even the most respected, competent, worthy and able persons succeeding in getting elected as trustees in future would have to spend hundreds of man-hours undoing the mess created by the present lot before they can restore the BPP to its past glory.
Would the disgusting behavior of most of the trustees not lead, in the not too distant future, to their extending an open invitation to the authorities concerned to step in and take control of the BPP?
Ego and pursuit of hidden agendas blots the clear-thinking, balanced and prudent action that trustees are obliged to take. They must function in accordance with the trust deed, in the best interests of the trust and its beneficiaries to ensure the most effective use of funds at their disposal. RUSTOM K. J. KHAMBATA
