“Always come back...

By Sherene Vakil · August 21, 2014
One should take pride in being a Parsi and take pains to learn the tenets of our religion, was the exhortation of tax lawyer Firoze Andhyarujina, chief guest at the Dae mah jashan held by the Thana Parsi Zoroastrian Anjuman (TPZA) at the Seth Rustomji Cawasji Patel Daremeher on May 31, 2014. "Even if one goes abroad to study, a Zoroastrian must always come back to India as Zoroastrianism will survive only in India,” Andhyarujina told the substantial gathering. He drew the crowd’s attention to the fact that when the original Zoroastrians left Iran they went all over the world, but the community survived only in India. Why? Because it was the Lord’s will. One should make it a point to visit our places of worship like agiaries and atash behrams regularly, if not on a daily basis, to ensure one’s personal peace of mind. Another imperative is for the community to take care of priests as they are the caretakers of our places of worship.
Zarsis D. Udhnawala, president TPZA, who sent an email to Parsiana about the event, gave a welcome address while Rumi Kasad, TPZA trustee introduced the guest speaker. The function ended with a dinner catered by Zoroastrian Caterers.
