Hindustan Times scholar

Among the 50 students in Bombay to have the won the Hindustan Times Scholarship, 2014 is 13-year-old Hoshedar Chichgar who is studying in Std IX at St Mary’s High School, ICSE. The scholarship, which is for overall proficiency and comprises a certificate, a trophy and cash component of Rs 50,000, was presented to him at a function at the Shanmukhananda Hall at Sion on February 6, 2014 where filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani and actor Aditi Rao Hyderi were chief guests, reveals an email received by Parsiana from Hoshedar’s mother, Sanaea.

The scholar is also a promising athlete and has brought credit to his school as well as to the Bombay Parsi Punchayet where he trains under the guidance of Dara Dumasia. He stood third in the 100 m hurdles at the district level Bombay City District Amateur Athletic Association meet in Bombay, adds his mother. He has won a number of track and field events at the Jal Pardivala All Parsi Annual Athletic Meet and the Dadar Parsee Colony Gymkhana meet over the last few years.
The youngster has consistently won prizes at the All Parsi Prayer Competition conducted by the Bombay Parsee Association and various contests held by the Iran League, the email mentions. Hoshedar’s 10-year-old sister Parinaz also wins prizes in these contests, their mother Sanaea informed Parsiana over the telephone.
