By Sherene Vakil · October 21, 2014
By the time teenager Ardeshirshaw Nariman joined the Dadar Athornan Institute (DAI) in June 2012 he was already a state level athlete and had won the Master Bombay title in 2011, mentions Ervad (Dr) Ramiyar Karanjia, principal of DAI in an email received by Parsiana. Nariman’s admission to DAI was as an exceptional case as he had already undergone kachha (preliminary) navar training and had passed the sixth standard, notes Karanjia. His parents, Nilufer and Rohinton, requested the Institute to take him on as a boarder as his younger brother was at that time being admitted in standard three. The parent body of DAI, the Athornan Mandal’s trustees and committee members deliberated on the matter and decided to admit him.
