Video surgery award
Dr Keiki R. Mehta helmed the team which won the award for outstanding video presentations of innovative surgical techniques at the VasKon Ophthalmological Congress on Advanced Ophthalmology held in Madras on March 24, 2013. For the over 700 attendees, he demonstrated live a new surgical technique for cataract, mentions an email received by Parsiana from Luciano Gomes.
Earlier, Mehta had been conferred the Vasan eye hospital’s highest accolade, the VasKon Plenary Award Scroll of Honor, which was presented to him by Dr K. Premraj, chief mentor of the Vasan Eye Care at the VasKon Congress in Madras (see "Scroll of honor for Mehta,” Events and Personalities, Parsiana, July 7, 2012). Mehta, surgical chief and medical director of Mehta International Eye Institute, is known for his pioneering techniques and research in the fields of cataract, glaucoma, lasik, squint and vitero-retinal surgery. His institute is affiliated with the ONO Clinique de l’Oeil Eye Institute in Geneva, Switzerland and the St Luke’s Eye Institute in Texas, USA, the email notes.
