The newly constructed indoor sports complex and the air cooled audiovisual room were inaugurated by Katherine A. Dhanani, consul general of the USA, who was guest of honor. Antia recited the Tandarosti prayer and presented her a shawl. Dhanani was appreciative when a translation of the prayer was read out. Thereafter, Club president Rohinton Noria presented her with a memento, vice president Shapur Toorkey handed over a bouquet and honorary secretary Lt Col (Retd) Aspi Eduljee thanked her for coming. Eduljee extended thanks to the volunteers who had worked hard to establish the sports complex at such short notice, especially Noria who took personal interest in the project and during whose tenure the Club has made unprecedented progress, Antia mentions.
Praising the Zoroastrian community in her address, Dhanani said she was honored with the warm and hearty welcome given to her on her first visit to the Club.
The evening ended with a subsidized dinner at the nominal rate of Rs 10 per head catered by Keki Irani. The consul general and her husband Azim Dhanani also partook of the meal, the write-up states.
