Fun filled Club day

The Zoroastrian Club of Secunderabad-Hyderabad had a treat in store for members while celebrating its 78th Club day on June 7, 2008, informs Kerfegar B. Antia, honorary secretary, in a write-up sent to Parsiana. The Club’s premises were tastefully illuminated and decorated with flowers. The traditional Dae mah jashan, performed by priests from all three agiaries in the twin cities, was followed by a rib-tickling Parsi comedy. The natak, presented by Jamshed Bugli and his troupe who had been specially invited from Bombay, had the large audience laughing throughout the 90-minute performance.

Noting the enthusiastic response of Zoroastrians from the twin cities, president Rohinton Noria assured them that, funds permitting, the Club would endeavor to organize regular staging of such shows for its members who would otherwise rarely be able to enjoy Parsi Gujarati plays in Hyderabad. Arnawaz Noria handed out mementos to all the artistes on behalf of the Club while Farida Antia presented a special gift to Bugli, the write-up adds. Antia thanked Bugli and his group for coming all the way from Bombay at short notice. Special thanks went out to Abad Wadia for handling the stage, sound and lighting arrangements as also local transportation for the performers. Antia expressed gratitude to Nazir Vakil, managing committee member, for escorting the group throughout their stay in Hyderabad. The evening’s program, ably compered by Vakil, ended with a sumptuous dinner subsidized by the Club and catered by Wadia, the write-up concludes.
