“Parsis and cricket”
Keki Doodhwalla’s letter ("Parsis and cricket,” Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, August 21, 2010), mentioning Parsis of eminent stature in Indian cricket, glaringly omits the name of Shavir Tarapore who is at the pinnacle of present Parsi participants in the game, being a full fledged International Cricket Council umpire on their international panel. Doodhwalla has also overlooked the contribution of Keki Tarapore (Shavir’s father) who was for decades a preeminent coach in the game, whose guidance benefited many cricketers from Kar-nataka and even nationally to represent their state in Ranji Trophy matches and even India at the international level.
