Parsi cricket history
The 1886 and 1888 cricket tours of England by Parsi teams have been inadequately recorded. Even M. E. Pavri’s book Parsi Cricket, published in 1901 and reprinted now by the Cama Oriental Institute was a disappointment. It is as much a coaching manual as a history of Parsi cricket.
I have the record of every single match played during those two tours, because of a scrap book of my great-grand-uncle J. Morenas who was on both these tours.
I propose to bring out a book on the subject and would be very obliged if any reader can supply photographs of those cricketers, or a collective photograph of the teams. I would be prepared to pay for the photographs.
Any anecdotes regarding those tours, or about Parsi cricket in the 1880s or 1890s, or references would be more than welcome. I can be contacted at 79 Mount Kailash, SFS Apartments, New Delhi 110065.
