Parel’s privileged pets

Soon there will be special wards for the pets of celebrities at the well known Bai Sakarbai Dinshaw Petit Hospital for Animals, attached to the Bombay Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BSPCA) at Parel, reported Daily News and Analysis (DNA) on July 10, 2010.
The services of the Hospital, which is known for rescuing and treating strays, have been in demand by many celebrities in recent times and the special ward will provide them with better amenities. "Whenever we get such animals, the owners have great difficulty staying back with their pets due to lack of privacy in the general ward. Special wards ensure that such high profile celebrities and their pets have privacy and comfort,” explained Dr (Col) J. C. Khanna, secretary, BSPCA.

Equipped with five kennels with cushions, the special ward will also have two furnished rooms for the patients’ owners. There will be a room for the doctor in attendance. "There are two bathrooms and rooms will also have centrally supplied oxygen. We can treat up to five (privileged) animals at one time,” Khanna informed DNA. The ward is not for celebrities alone but can be used by anyone willing to pay the admittedly high price for the facilities, he noted.
