“The BPP’s role”

In connection with the Arjun Rampal incident, to say that all of us, including the children of the trustees of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP), have played pranks, in order to justify desecrating a fire temple, is ridiculous. Jamshed Irani has done just this in his letter "The BPP’s role” (Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, September 21, 2009).
As children we Parsi Zoroastrians were taught by our parents that no pranks would be tolerated in respect of our fire temples, and that we could expect severe punishment for the same. If Irani’s was a "recollection,” it was a most mischievous one. I wonder why the editors made no comment regarding this, when they were quick to defend Noshir Dadrawala’s "right to dissent” along with the letter "Constant disagreements,” in the same issue.
And who says that the "interfaith” marriages of the Tata, Godrej and Wadia families were very successful? Look at what it has done or is doing to their family dynasties which have been effectively terminated with no Parsi Zoroastrian heirs and descendants for the future.
The wheels of Keshash (law of cause and effect) grind slowly, but they grind exceedingly fine and are inexorable for those who flout religious laws. Do not play with fire.

The editors reply
All the three families — Tata, Godrej and Wadia — are thriving with two of the Wadias having returned to the Zoroastrian fold.
