Witch-hunting by BPP
The induction of the two World Alliance of Parsi Irani Zarthoshtis (WAPIZ) sponsored trustees on the former Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) board in 2008 intensified the witch-hunt of non-Parsi spouses at BPP managed baugs.
An exercise was undertaken, even in 2005, but given a burial as industrialist and Wadia family scion Nusli Wadia was opposed to such a witch-hunt in the Wadia baugs. Some three years back, the BPP made the most bizarre proposal to such spouses that they could remain on the premises only during daytime and depart to their original homes after sunset! Has any community ever heard of a more absurd proposal than this? The BPP has renewed the witch-hunt now. Do we want our community to survive and grow, or become extinct? B. T. DASTUR
Former chief executive officer of the BPP
