Medical aid
Medical aid is the urgent need of the hour. Medical treatment, medicines and drugs are becoming more and more expensive, nay prohibitive, and at times it is impossible for persons/families with fixed and limited income or for retired people to avail of the necessary treatment, especially if they do not have mediclaim insurance. Such persons or their relatives have to approach various sources for aid because in majority of cases no single trust is able to help them out to the extent required.
It is understood that several anjumans and punchayets have large funds/trusts earmarked for various unproductive purposes such as gahanbars, etc, which are not fully utilized, and they are not able to disburse the same for medical aid. It is time that persons managing such funds/trusts approach the charity commissioner, courts or other authorities concerned and obtain permission to utilize the monies for a better purpose.
Many anjumans and punchayets who may have substantial resources do not take the trouble to verify the genuineness or otherwise of each case before extending help but pass the buck to others. Even if, for whatever reason, they are unable to help they should verify the case and certify whether it is genuine or not.
It is high time a single point central pool is created for medical aid so that the really needy and senior citizens are not required to rush from pillar to post in times of urgent need.
