“Treading a novel path”
It was both interesting and enlightening to read about Keki Daruwalla’s experiences in "Treading a novel path” (Parsiana, May 21, 2009), particularly as I am myself very keen on writing and have penned many poems, several short stories and essays though I am a medical doctor by profession.
Another very interesting article in the same issue was "Love of the lyrical language” about Dr Navroze Kotwal who writes Urdu poetry. Having grown up in Karachi, I had studied the Urdu language from Std I to VIII (that is, until matriculation), though I don’t know as much Urdu as Kotwal writes. I also found the piece titled "The Marathwada mamlatdar’s monsoon magic” about Zal Nowsherwanji’s experience most interesting and amusing. Being now completely retired since almost a year, I can read the magazine in greater detail than I could previously.
Just an aside regarding a quote by Ratan Tata in "So they say” in an earlier edition of Parsiana, about waiting too long for a car being like waiting too long for a pretty girl: Everyone grows old (unless unfortunately one dies young or prematurely) but every woman does not necessarily grow fat. Some remain slim to the end.
