Talibanization of the BPP
The Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) trustees passed a resolution on June 9, 2009 barring two allegedly "renegade priests,” Ervads Framroze Mirza and Khushroo Madon from performing religious ceremonies at Doongerwadi and the Godavara and Godrej Baug agiaries, all three institutions being under the control of the BPP. The resolution justifies the ban referring to the "unreligious ceremonies” performed by the duo such as funerary prayers for those opting for cremation and navjotes of children of interfaith marriages.
The resolution "reminds the staff at Doongerwadi” to bar the two from performing ceremonies pointing out that in the recent past both have participated in such funerary services at Doongerwadi and similarly cautions the panthakies at the two agairies to keep them out. The resolution quotes Dastur (Dr) Kai-khusroo JamaspAsa as having condemned the two priests and asking agiaries and atash behrams not to permit them to perform ceremonies in their precincts. The moving spirit behind the BPP resolution are reportedly BPP and World Alliance of Parsi Irani Zarthoshtis (WAPIZ) trustees Khojeste Mistree and Yazdi Desai.
