Banishing boredom

The coronavirus caused lockdown forced my family and I, a retired 84-year-old teacher of J. B. Vachha (JBV) High School in Dadar, to stay in Lonavla. Despite the loving care of the family, praying, exercising, performing daily chores, watching television, etc, something was missing — reading. So our friends, Parizad and Darius Nariman, lent me several copies of Parsiana. My boredom vanished. Believe me, I have been reading them from cover to cover. The editorials and each and every article have been informative and interesting.
Berjis Desai’s column "Unforgettable Bawas” is just superb. Sir, aren’t there any unforgettable bawis? His column "Navsari Tales” gives readers a glimpse of life in a small town in bygone days.
I feel proud that Parsiana’s senior editor Roxan Driver and advertising director Jasmine Driver are ex-Vachhaites. Scanning through the photos I found mention of JBV ex-students Yasmin Mistry (of Zoroastrian Trust Funds of India), Behroze Daruwalla and Veera Mundroina (of World Zarathushti Chamber of Commerce), Homai Daruwalla and Zarin Daruwalla (senior bankers) who are doing excellent work for their community and society at large. They have done their alma mater proud.

Ms Talati’s query was forwarded to Berjis Desai for comment, if any. He replied that 12 of the 50 profiles were of bawis: Warm Steel, The Sisters, The Beauty, Loner, Stoic, Aunt, Avatars, Perfectionist, Medium, Couple, Singer and Hosts!
