“Marker Complex reopened”

I was greatly interested in the item "Marker Complex reopened” (Zoroastrians Abroad, Parsiana, June 7, 2008), which recalled to my mind an article on adoption which I had sent to you on June 25, 2004 and which was printed in one of your subsequent issues. In that piece I had referred to "an orphanage in Iran for Zoroastrian children which has been established by some well-wisher from India.” If I recollect correctly, one of your readers had responded saying that the orphanage was established by Peshotan Dosabhoy Marker.
I am very glad to learn that the orphanage was reopened on March 25, 2008 after extensive renovation and is now equipped with six PCs. It is a matter of pride not only for the Marker family but also for the Parsi community that the area came to be known as "Markerabad” and that the Islamic government has created a large and beautiful park in the city, naming it Peshotan Marker Park.
