Monsoon medley

With a handsome 27 points, the Malcolm Baug team won the Late Rohinton Chinoy Championship Trophy at the 11th All Parsee Monsoon Games on August 26, 2007 at the Rustom Baug grounds in Bombay. The 224 Zoroastrian participants from Bombay and Thana were part of the 16 teams, comprising eight boys and six girls each, who competed with vim and vigor in the tug-of-war, throwball and football matches held through the day-long, exhausting but enjoyable competition.
Malcolm Baug set a record in the 11 years of the Monsoon Games by reaching the finals in all three events and winning in two of them. Runners up C. J. Colony garnered a total of 10 points. Maheet Desai and Uzan Tara, both of Malcolm Baug, were adjudged the best female and male players respectively, as per the information forwarded by Zyros Zend.
With Desai as captain, the experienced Malcolm Baug girls downed team Petite in straight sets, this being their fourth consecutive win in the finals, states Zend. Straight thereafter came the tug-of-war final. With a total team weight of 600 kg balanced on both sides, each pull took a longer time to win, with Malcolm Baug prevailing over YCZA (Young Collegians Zoroastrian Association).
Testing strength and stamina, the near exhausted Malcolm Baug youngsters lost to Rustom Baug in the football final. It was the second consecutive win in the final for Rustom Baug who had earlier scored over Dadar Parsi Colony in a penalty shootout in the semifinal.
