Shuttling success
The 21st edition of the All Parsees Badminton tournament conducted by FOZAWAC (Federation of Zoroastrian Associations for Welfare and Culture) witnessed a participation of 130 players. Maintaining their winning streak, Zarir Warden and Naheed Divecha were once again the singles champions in the Men’s and Women’s categories. Anosh Patel picked up the Boys under 16 singles trophy, while Jehan Daboo won the Boys under 12 title and was declared ‘promising youngster’ as well.

In the mixed doubles, Neville Master and Shanaya Pavri triumphed over Warden and Divecha, with Master also winning the Men’s doubles with Jehzeel Mehta, conquering the challenge from Warden and Varun Buhariwala. Kaizeen Kolah partnered Pavri to beat Spenta Havewala and Bianca Patel in the Women’s doubles. In the Boys under 16 doubles, Patel and Percy Bharucha defeated Daboo and Cyrus Lalkaka who nevertheless prevailed over Jehan Daruwala and Arman Arethna in the Boys under 12 doubles.
"Each year we have around 100 participants but we want to see more juniors,” says FOZAWAC’s Dinshaw Patel who conducted the tournament with Jal Guard. "We get a very good response from Dadar Parsee Gymkhana and Cusrow Baug but we want parents from other places too to encourage their children,” Patel adds. The tournament held at the Parsee Gymkhana at Marine Drive on December 8-9, 2007 was sponsored by Shahrukh Kathawalla.
