FOZAWAC’s felicitation
Ninety-four students who had secured high percentages in the SSC, ICSE, CBSE, HSC (Science), HSC (Com) and HSC (Arts) were felicitated by the Federation of Zoroastrian Associations for Welfare and Culture (FOZAWAC) at a function on September 23, 2007. Held at the Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Parsee Charitable Institution (BJPCI), Charni Road, the function was sponsored by the World Zoroastrian Organisation, India, as per a write-up sent to Parsiana by Rusi Bhamgara, general secretary of FOZAWAC.

Dr Gustad Daver, medical director, Hinduja Hospital was the chief guest that evening, along with his doctor wife. Cash prizes and merit certificates were given by them to the successful students who came from Bombay, Poona, Surat, Navsari, Dahanu, Abu, Nagpur, Jalgaon and Ajmer. Toppers in five categories were awarded the Mr and Mrs Shavaksha R. Pagdiwalla Scholarship, a memento and a certificate.

Jazeel Limzerwala (93.84 percent), Benaisha Mehta (92.46 percent) and Sanaea Colsawala (90 percent) topped the SSC list. Heading the ICSE group were Seema Irani (95.28 percent), Sherna Doongaji (93.88 percent) and Parzaan Dastur (93.71 percent). Dehnaz Elavia (86 percent), Sanaiya Bachana (85.33 percent) and Safna Laskari (85.17 percent) won awards for excelling in the HSC (Com) exam. Farhad Colabawalla got 92.50 percent while Benaifer Patel and Kaizad Patel tied with 92 percent each in the HSC (Science) exam. Khushmand Patel of Poona obtained 81.5 percent in the HSC (Arts) exam, as per the list forwarded by FOZAWAC.
Dadar’s J. B. Vachha School, which had nine girls in the FOZAWAC merit list, won the Best School of the Year award. A special award was given to Maneckji Cooper Education Trust School which had eight students in the list. Kashmira Gandevia, principal of Maneckji Cooper and Gool Ghadiali, principal, Sharma International School, Powai were special invitees.
Adi Mehta, FOZAWAC president, welcomed those present while Bhamgara thanked the special guests, WZO India for sponsoring the event, donors of the Mr and Mrs Shavaksha R. Pagdiwalla Scholarship, the principal, trustees and staff of the BJPC Institution, all the students and their parents.
