Parsi wedding feasts
At Parsi weddings food is served to guests as though morsels were being thrown to dogs; we are not supposed to chew the stuff but to swallow it! The haste of the caterers’ workers has become virtually uncontrollable. Even when they see guests eating dessert, having left half of the dinner untouched, they indicate that they are taking too long by all manner of nasty expedients. And the caterers perhaps encourage rather than try and control such behavior!
This makes dining out at weddings and navjotes a real pain. The argument for such frenetic haste is that it enables guests to leave early to reach their homes in the suburbs. This will not wash. Why do these ugly practices not occur with the buffet system? It is time sit-down dining is eliminated altogether unless the food is served at decent intervals, and not one vani (food item) on top of the other.
I suggest that caterers offer their fare both in sit-down as well as buffet style and let the guests choose the one they prefer.
