Rare UP honors

Youth trustee of the Agra Parsi Anjuman Porushesp H. Debara has been appointed as special police officer on the recommendation of Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) depu­ty inspector general, notes a press release from the Anjuman.

Debara: outstanding services

Serving his second term on the executive body of the National Chamber of Industries and Commerce, UP, Debara was conferred the Indira Gandhi Priya­darshini Award in New Delhi on November 18, 2002, the eve of her birth anniversary. The Award, recognizing his "outstanding services, achievements and contributions,” has been instituted by the National Unity Conference which seeks to promote national unity and integration, brotherhood and oneness.

"It is probably for the first time that a Zoroastrian has been awarded such honors in UP,” mentions the release.
