Zoroastrians Abroad
Vafadari assassinated
The stabbing of Iranian professor Dr Kasra Vafadari on May 17, 2005 in Paris has sent shock waves through the Zoroastrian world, notes an e-mail from Dr Mehran Sepehri. He notes that the third day ceremony was performed at the Tehran Atashkedeh according to Iranian traditions when a number of Zoroastrians and non-Zoroastrians attended to share the prayers and the memories of a hero.
Sepehri writes that the French ambassador to Iran who attended the ceremony with his wife has promised prompt investigation and follow-up. A professor at the University of Paris, Vafadari fearlessly espoused the cause of the Iranian community. He is survived by his wife and two daughters in Paris, two brothers in Iran, and a brother and sister in the USA.
