A surgical for Surat

The Surat Parsi General Hospital, founded in 1920, has been rendering yeoman services to the ailing Parsis of the area. It was initially the only hospital in South Gujarat, with the exception of the Civil Hospital of Surat. All the subsequent hospitals in South Gujarat cater to the needs of the cosmopolitan society.
Medical people connected with the Hospital state that the most urgent need at this institution is for a mobile Image Intensifier C.Arm Microprocessor based IITV Unit which almost costs six lakh rupees. We can go in for such a purchase only if this entire amount or a major part of this is donated to our institution. We shall be pleased to supply further information to whosoever is interested in fulfilling this urgent need of this institution. The Hospital has been functioning with a heavy deficit since its inception. The income and expenditure figures (in rupees) for the last three years are:
1999-2000 — Income 12,01,951.61; Expenditure 16,23,904.77; Deficit 4,21,953.16
2000-2001 — Income 15,42,411.39; Expenditure 19,68,064.22; Deficit 4,25,653.83
2001-2002 — Income 37,73,596.77; Expenditure 24,84,918.74; Deficit 12,88,678.03.
We request affluent Zoroastrians and charitable trusts to sympathetically consider this appeal for aid. The Surat Panchayat trustees will be pleased to give any information a donor desires. If the donation is made in memory of somebody the Panchayat will be pleased to consider the donor’s conditions.
